Get ready to hit the waves on a killer 6-hour fishing trip off Wrightsville Beach, NC. We're talking prime time on the water from 7 AM to 1 PM, chasing after some serious gamefish. Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Bonito, Kingfish, Mahi Mahi, Sailfish – you name it, we're after it. This isn't your average day at the beach; it's a chance to battle with some of the Atlantic's most prized catches.
We'll be cruising 10-20 miles offshore, where the big boys play. The season runs from April 1 to October 31, so you've got plenty of time to plan your attack. For $750, you and three buddies can have the boat to yourselves. No overcrowded party boats here – just you, your crew, and miles of open ocean. And hey, if the fish are really biting, we might even push it a bit further out. The best part? You can cancel up to a week before without losing a dime. It's fishing without the worry, folks.
We'll be doing a mix of trolling and bottom fishing, depending on what's hot that day. Expect to use some heavy-duty gear – we're talking sturdy rods, big reels, and lines that can handle a serious fight. We'll set you up with everything you need, from bait to tackle. You might be working with live bait one minute and tossing lures the next. It's all about adapting to what the fish want. And trust me, when a Mahi hits your line or a Sailfish starts dancing on the water, you'll be glad you came prepared for a workout.
"Captain Coach did an excellent job putting us on the fish. We reeled in several Spanish mackerel and a few bluefish during the trip. It was my grandson's first time fishing on the ocean, and he had a blast. Coach was incredibly patient and took the time to teach him some solid fishing techniques. A truly memorable experience!" - Edwin
Mahi Mahi, or as we like to call 'em, Dorado, are the rockstars of offshore fishing. These beauties are known for their acrobatic leaps and stunning colors. They're fast growers and can hit sizes of 30 pounds or more in our waters. Spring through fall is prime time for Mahi, with summer being the peak. Anglers love 'em not just for the fight, but for the delicious fillets they provide.
Bluefish are the bulldogs of the sea. These guys are aggressive feeders and will hit just about anything that moves. They range from 2 to 20 pounds and are most active in the spring and fall. When a school of blues moves in, get ready for non-stop action. They're not the prettiest fish in the sea, but pound for pound, they're some of the hardest fighters you'll encounter.
The Atlantic Sailfish is the holy grail for many offshore anglers. These speedsters can top 60 miles per hour and put on a show like no other when hooked. We see them more in the late summer and fall, usually chasing schools of baitfish. Landing a Sailfish is a bucket-list experience – their bills are longer than your arm, and they can easily top 100 pounds. It's catch and release for these beauties, but the photos and memories last a lifetime.
Look, fishing's always a gamble, but with Victory Charters, you're stacking the deck in your favor. We know these waters like the back of our hand and we're out here every day, tracking where the fish are biting. Whether you're a seasoned angler or it's your first time wetting a line, we've got you covered. So what are you waiting for? The fish aren't going to catch themselves. Check our calendar, pick a date, and let's make some waves. Trust me, a day out here beats any day on land. See you on the boat!

Mahi-mahi, also called dolphinfish, are one of our most colorful and acrobatic gamefish. Adults average 15-30 pounds but can top 50. We find them offshore around floating debris and weedlines from spring through fall. Mahi are fast-growing and short-lived, which makes them a great sustainable fishery. They're known for their dazzling blue-green and gold colors that fade quickly after being caught. Anglers love mahi for their hard fights, aerial acrobatics, and excellent eating quality. We typically troll for them with rigged ballyhoo or cast light tackle around floating structure. A local tip is to keep the first one you catch in the water - mahi are very social, and the rest of the school will often stick around. For a combination of great action and delicious fillets, mahi are tough to beat.
Bluefish are aggressive predators that provide fast action for anglers of all skill levels. Adults typically run 3-10 pounds but can reach over 20. We find them in our inshore waters spring through fall, often in large schools churning up bait on the surface. Bluefish hit lures and bait with savage strikes and put up a spirited fight on light tackle. They're not picky eaters - we catch them on everything from topwater plugs to cut bait. Just watch those razor-sharp teeth when unhooking them. Late summer is prime time as big schools move through chasing bait. Bluefish aren't known for their table quality, but smaller ones make decent eating if bled and iced immediately. For consistent action and pure excitement, it's hard to beat a bluefish blitz.
Atlantic sailfish are some of the most exciting fish you can target off our coast. These acrobatic fighters average 6-7 feet long and 40-60 pounds. You'll find them in warm waters 30-60 feet deep, often near the surface. Spring through fall is prime sailfish season here. Anglers love chasing sails for their incredible speed and aerial displays - they'll leap clear out of the water multiple times during a fight. To hook one, we'll troll with rigged ballyhoo or use kites to present live baits. Once hooked up, be ready for an endurance battle. A local trick is to "bow to the king" by dipping your rod tip when they jump to help keep them on the line. Landing a sailfish is a real trophy, though we practice catch and release to conserve the population.
