Captain Chuck Bishop, also known as Coach, has been immersed in a diverse array of sports from an early age, demonstrating a natural talent and enthusiasm that has continued throughout his life. His journey into the world of hunting and fishing began early, thanks to his grandfather, who introduced him to these outdoor pursuits. This early exposure fostered a deep appreciation for outdoor activities. As Coach grew older and moved to the coast, he expanded his horizons to include scuba diving and fishing, further enriching his connection to the water. Living near the coast, Coach was influenced by his neighbor, a seasoned commercial fisherman and charter captain. This relationship not only deepened his love for fishing but also inspired him to obtain his own captain’s license. His experience as a scuba diver has been particularly beneficial, providing him with a detailed understanding of underwater structures and reefs, as well as the diverse marine life that populates these environments. This combination of skills and knowledge has made Coach a highly skilled and knowledgeable guide. Victory Charters, operated by Coach Bishop, reflects his long-standing dedication to the sport. For over 30 years, Coach has been a respected teacher and coach in the Wilmington area. His passion for the outdoors is evident through his extensive involvement in fishing, hunting, and scuba diving. Now, he has transitioned from teaching to fully embracing his passion for fishing, offering his expertise to those eager to experience the rich fishing grounds off Wrightsville Beach. Guests aboard Victory Charters will enjoy fishing on a 26’ Maycraft center console, equipped with a 300 HP Yamaha outboard and a closed transom. The boat is designed to offer ample space for comfort, accommodating up to 4 passengers comfortably and up to 6 on nearshore trips. It’s an ideal setup for families and groups of friends looking to enjoy a memorable day on the water. Coach is welcoming of all passengers, including children, ensuring a fun and inclusive experience for everyone. Each fishing trip with Coach includes everything needed for a successful outing: fishing licenses, rods and reels, bait, and all essential gear. Coach also provides cleaning and filleting services for any fish that guests wish to take home. Captain Chuck Bishop consistently delivers exceptional fishing results with Victory Charters, regularly putting customers on Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and even exciting catches like hammerhead sharks and massive barracuda. One group caught over 30 Spanish mackerel in a single trip, while another landed enough fish to feed their entire 12-person vacation crew. Chuck's trolling expertise and knowledge of local fishing spots help him adapt to conditions and find fish even when other boats struggle.

Chuck shows remarkable patience with children and beginners, taking extra time to teach proper techniques and answer endless questions from young anglers. He's accommodated families with special needs children, stayed out longer so a 9-year-old could try shark fishing, and even provided fish cleaning lessons. Customers consistently mention his flexibility with weather changes and last-minute bookings, plus his engaging storytelling from years on the water.
